Dr. Klein began his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Honors from the University of Florida. He went on to receive both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, completing formal training in various residential and inpatient treatment facilities throughout South Florida. His career has spanned a broad range of settings, including the court system, programs supervised by the Department of Children and Families, community mental health clinics, and private practice.
In his clinical work, Dr. Klein offers individual and family therapy to adults and adolescents. He draws from a wide spectrum of therapeutic models, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic theory, attachment-based approaches, and object relations. In recent years, much of his work has been influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which emphasizes values-based living and psychological flexibility. He takes pride in maintaining an eclectic and flexible therapeutic approach that is always guided by research and responsiveness to each client’s unique needs.
Dr. Klein leads weekly interpersonal process groups, providing a dynamic environment where clients can deepen self-awareness and explore relational patterns. He also facilitates a bereavement and grief support group, offering a dedicated space for individuals to process loss and rebuild meaning in their lives.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Klein served as a child welfare case management supervisor and psychological examiner, focusing on the needs of vulnerable children and families. During this time, he became certified as a Child Protective Care Worker and worked closely with dependency and delinquency courts. These experiences continue to inform his deep understanding of family systems, trauma, and resilience.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Klein maintains an active forensic psychology practice. He is a certified Florida Forensic Examiner and has extensive experience conducting psychological evaluations in State and Federal courts, as well as in Family, Dependency, and Delinquency court systems. He provides expert assessments and testimony on a wide range of issues, including competency, risk, and mitigation.
Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Klein shares: “Over the last 20 years, I have had the good fortune of working with and learning from truly inspirational individuals. My clinical training incorporates a broad spectrum of influence, from psychodynamic and attachment theory to cognitive behavioral case conceptualization and intervention. While I maintain an active forensic practice, I cherish my clinical work with those who come into my office seeking therapy.”
Dr. Klein is a member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association and currently serves as Membership Chair for the Florida Group Psychotherapy Society. His practice is dedicated to fostering insight, growth, and lasting emotional well-being in a safe and supportive environment.
