ABOUT ME
Cayla earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, where she developed a strong foundation in evidence-based interventions. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida State University. Cayla is passionate about helping clients work through relationship challenges and process difficult and traumatic life experiences. She has experience working with teenagers and adults, and with both individuals and couples and welcomes clients from all cultural backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
With clinical experience across a broad spectrum of mental health diagnoses, Cayla has worked with clients navigating concerns such as:
- Anxiety and depression
- Relationship and intimacy issues
- Self-esteem and identity exploration
- Stress and life adjustments
- Trauma
She utilizes an integrative approach using evidence-based and person-centered techniques. She works collaboratively with clients to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where growth and insight can flourish. She has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, one of the most widely recognized approaches for working with couples.
Cayla is from Miami, where she grew up on Key Biscayne and attended Design & Architecture Senior High School, specializing in film. Growing up in Miami gave Cayla an appreciation for the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of people’s life experiences. This contributed to her curiosity about the field of psychology and how diverse life experiences shape people’s narratives, challenges and decisions. In her free time she enjoys yoga, exercising, reading, and traveling.
Cayla has also facilitated psychotherapy groups focused on topics such as:
- Building healthy self-esteem
- Navigating relationship challenges
- Assertiveness and boundary-setting
- Mindfulness for emotional regulation
