ABOUT ME

With her authenticity and empathic nature, Nashmia Khan, LMFT genuinely values the therapeutic relationship. In her work with individuals, children, and families, Nashmia honors her client’s individualized process of change. Having a multicultural background, Nashmia understands the importance of remaining culturally aware and has experience working with diverse populations being that she is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Nashmia Khan, LMFT provides services for the whole family. She has completed Level 3 Practicum training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Working with couples, Nashmia relies on the Gottman Method to assist couples in building stronger communication skills, learning strategies to resolve conflict, and enhancing their emotional connection.

With specialized training in play therapy and infant mental health, Nashmia honors her client’s internal world and collaborates with children (ages birth-12) and families in reaching their desired goals through the powers of attachment, play, and parent collaboration. She extends her passion for play therapy as a member of the Association for Play Therapy and Committee member of the South Florida Chapter for Play Therapy.

In addition, Nashmia is also trained in Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) and works with children and adults in addressing tics and Tourette’s syndrome through a behavioral approach. Although CBIT is not a “cure” for Tourette’s syndrome, it is a valuable tool that can help individuals better manage tics and reduce the negative impact on their daily life.

Nashmia Khan is a licensed marriage and family therapist, having graduated from Nova Southeastern University’s Marriage and Family Therapy program, after earning her B.A. in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. Her dedication to her work is evident in her ability to connect with clients in a warm, non-judgmental, and supportive manner.
