|The ultimate goal for Dr. Evelia Iglesias is to reduce her patients’ suffering and allow them to bring enjoyment, contentment and happiness into their lives. These are difficult tasks which she believes begin with listening, patience, and understanding. Dr. Iglesias was born and raised in Cuba where growing up in a Communist country was difficult for her in many ways. As a child she became fascinated by books and by the characters in the stories, always wanting to know much more about them. Her interest in human behavior continued to develop and she went to medical school in Cuba with the focus on becoming a psychiatrist. After moving to America, Dr. Iglesias joined Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center as a psychiatry resident. In her residency she received extensive training, well beyond any requirements, in outpatient psychiatry which included a focus on adult patients who suffered from:
In working with patients she uses a hand tailored personal approach that includes psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral and narrative therapies. Dr. Iglesias joins Miami Counseling & Resource Center with extraordinary and glowing recommendations from her faculty and peers. She will see adult patients for comprehensive psychopharmacological evaluations and medication management.
