ABOUT ME

Cayla Scholz is a compassionate, person-centered therapist who has a deep appreciation for the individuality and uniqueness of each client she meets. She believes that the strength of the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful change and healing.

Cayla earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, where she developed a strong foundation in evidence-based interventions. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida State University. Cayla is passionate about helping clients work through relationship challenges and process difficult and traumatic life experiences. She has experience working with teenagers and adults, and with both individuals and couples and welcomes clients from all cultural backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations.

Her approach is integrative and thoughtfully tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. She often incorporates psychodynamic strategies to explore how early attachment experiences and formative relationships may be shaping current patterns, alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge unhelpful beliefs and self-narratives. Cayla is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which helps the brain reprocess traumatic or distressing experiences and can be highly effective in reducing trauma-related symptoms and anxiety. She has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and uses research-based tools to help partners strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and deepen connection. For clients struggling with OCD, she utilizes Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to help reduce obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.

With clinical experience across a broad spectrum of mental health struggles and diagnoses, Cayla works with clients navigating concerns such as:

  • Relationship and intimacy issues
  • Trauma
  • OCD
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Self-esteem and identity exploration
  • Stress and life adjustments

Growing up in Miami gave Cayla an appreciation for the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of people’s life experiences. This contributed to her curiosity about the field of psychology and how diverse life experiences shape people’s narratives, challenges and decisions. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, workout classes, reading, and traveling.

Cayla has also facilitated psychotherapy groups focused on topics such as:

  • Building healthy self-esteem
  • Navigating relationship challenges
  • Assertiveness and boundary-setting
  • Mindfulness for emotional regulation
