ABOUT ME
Dr. Aarti Jerath, MD MA, is a board certified psychiatrist who treats adults and children. She feels passionate and driven about helping people feel mentally and emotionally healthy. She is committed to her patients’ well-being with the goal of helping them achieve happiness, enjoy life and be successful. The source of Dr. Jerath’s quality of care comes from her genuine love and empathy for people. Dr. Jerath was born in Augusta, GA, where she became valedictorian of her high school class. As a youth, she was a nationally ranked singles and doubles tennis player, who then later played in college at the Division I level for Harvard University. As such, she understands the pressure that school puts on children these days, especially to succeed and to further their education. Upon graduating from college, Dr. Jerath decided to become a doctor like her mother and her twin sister, who are both neurologists. She earned her masters degree in medical sciences at Boston University and then went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Illinois. In her medical training, her love of helping both adults and children became even more apparent. She therefore pursued and completed a psychiatry residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital after medical school. Dr. Jerath was then invited by them to stay on and to do a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry, which she successfully completed. Today, Dr. Jerath provides support and guidance to both children and their families in the Miami community, especially since she has been committed to this population when she volunteered at a children’s hospital in Bangalore, India in her college years. In parallel, Dr. Jerath also continues to work (when available) as an Attending Doctor in the crisis/ER unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital. At the Miami Counseling and Research Center, Dr. Jerath focuses her outpatient care on:
- Depression
- Anxiety Disorders
- Bipolar Disorders
- Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder
- Psychotic Disorders
- Impulse control disorders
- Personality disorders
- Obsessive compulsive disorder
- Somatic symptom disorders

Dr. Jerath will evaluate adult and child patients for medication management. She also did a course at the Florida Psychoanalytic Institute and tries to incorporate psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapies, as well as mindfulness and prevention into her practice.
