She uses a variety of therapeutic techniques, including psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioral, supportive therapy and medication management. She is also an experienced family therapist. Dr. Antia treats a variety of issues which include, but are not limited to:
*OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
Dr. Antia did her adult psychiatry residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia where she focused on the importance of a therapeutic relationship and the impact it has on treatment. She became fascinated with the developmental impact a person’s childhood has on their adult lives and she decided to pursue these interests as a child and adolescent psychiatry resident at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is a board certified Child, Adolescent and Adult psychiatrist.
In addition to working with many of the above mentioned issues Dr. Antia has developed a special interest as a Community Consultant for families struggling to understand a recent or possible diagnosis of Autism Spectrum disorder and developmental delay in their child. She uses a multi-tier approach to help families understand all the information they have received from different sources such as occupational therapy, speech therapy, ABA (applied behavioral analysis) and psychological testing. She helps families implement modifications at home and school in order to better help their children reach their true potential.
