The Miami Counseling & Resource Center offers individual and family therapy / counseling for children and adolescents presenting with a variety of mental health issues. Our psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and other psychotherapists are highly trained and experienced in treating your child for problems & diagnoses including the following: Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression or anxiety disorders, eating disorders, school/academic issues, parent-child conflicts, behavior problems, difficulty adjusting to changes such as relocation or parents’ divorce and grief. Our psychologists provide psychological testing for gifted placements, learning disabilities, and numerous other types of academic, behavioral, and emotional problems. A written psychological and/or psychoeducational report will be given to you, as well as a feedback session to explain the results and answer your questions. Our psychiatrist is Board Certified in child/adolescent psychiatry, provides very thorough evaluations, and can prescribe medication as indicated and follow your child’s treatment progress closely. Our marriage and family therapists and other psychologists and counselors on our team specialize in diagnosing and understanding the numerous and complex emotional difficulties children and adolescents face today. This frequently includes dealing with the many exceptionally difficult challenges such as: drug and alcohol addictions, truancy, sexual promiscuity, sexually transmitted diseases, peer pressure, eating disorders, oppositional and defiant behaviors, and self-harming behaviors. All of our therapists and counselors will work with your child or adolescent’s teachers throughout the Miami-Dade / South Florida area if requested by the parent, and we coordinate closely with other health care professionals, when appropriate. |
