Raquel Valdivia earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from University of Miami and her Master’s degree from Barry University with dual specialization in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy. Ms. Valdivia treats individuals, couples and families from early childhood to adulthood. She specializes in working with couples and assisting them with challenges that occur during the life of a marriage. She has helped many couples:
Her goal is to empower couples to create a healthy relationship that will provide life meaning and happiness for each individual. In addition to her formal education, Ms. Valdivia has also worked in other agencies such as the University of Miami/Mailman Center for Child Development with children ages 3-5, Switchboard of Miami with adolescents ages 13-18, and PsychSolutions with children and adolescents ages 3-19 focusing on issues such as family conflict, ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, anger management, sexual orientation, and childhood trauma. She assists parents by developing parenting skills and behavior management plans that can guide the family through these challenging years. Ms. Valdivia was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United State at the age of 14. She spent most of her teenage years in the Northeast area of the US and eventually moved to Miami. Ms. Valdivia offers therapeutic services in both English and Spanish, and enjoys working with diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds as well as sexual orientation. |
