Active Group Therapy Workshops
Miami Counseling & Resource Center provides ongoing group therapy workshops to provide interested individuals with another format for treatment. Unlike individual counseling, group therapy brings several clients together who have similar concerns and through the guidance of a group leader, the clinical therapist, create a healing and supportive environment. Divorce: Surviving The First Twelve MonthsThe Divorce & Family Counseling Center, a subdivision of Miami Counseling & Resource Center, would like to announce the next series of DIVORCE: SURVIVING THE FIRST TWELVE MONTHS to be held at our center. Groups are offered to men and women recently separated or divorced who are struggling with this dramatic change in their lives. This counseling and support group will help participants face the issue and overcome uncertainties of divorce. It will provide a vehicle for them to enhance their self-esteem and coping skills and, most importantly, will bring energy back into their lives so they can move ahead. The group will meet weekly at the Miami Counseling and Resource Center, 111 Majorca Avenue, Coral Gables, Florida. Cost is $50.00 per session. Those interested may call 305-448-8325 extension #7. About the Therapist Susan Scholz-Rubin, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and the founder, director, and administrator of the Miami Counseling & Resource Center and Divorce & Family Counseling Center. She is a certified Divorce and Family Mediator and a Parenting Coordinator for the 11th Circuit Family Court. Dr. Scholz-Rubin specializes in couples therapy, separation and divorce counseling, children of divorce, co-parenting concerns, blended and single parent family issues. She has been in private practice for 31 years. Anger Management Workshop: Being Smart About AngerWhat is anger? Why do we get angry? Why some of us have a harder time managing our anger? When is anger OK? Anger is a naturally occurring emotion that, like all other emotions, is meant to move us toward the fulfillment of a goal. Unless the result of anger is behavior that is unmanageable, aggressive, and or destructive, the feeling, identification and expression of anger is absolutely necessary and should be encouraged. Recognizing the most common sources of anger in our lives (triggers), our most typical ways of reacting to it (both physiologically and mentally) and our prevalent method of expressing it (passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive or assertive) can not only help us understand it better, but it can also helps us develop effective and productive ways for handling this emotion in our lives, while enabling us to successfully communicate it and use it to our benefit. This 8-session workshop will enable participants to gain a better insight into:
Workshops will run 8 weeks cycles on Thursday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 PM at the Miami Counseling and Resource Center, 111 Majorca Avenue, Coral Gables, Florida. Cost is $40.00 per week. As a practitioner at the Miami and Counseling Resource center, Ernesto enjoys working with couples, families and children.
